Pearl to Receive Honorary Doctor Degree

Professor Judea Pearl, president of the Daniel Pearl Foundation will receive an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Toronto at a convocation ceremony in June 2007. The degree is offered "in recognition of Professor Pearl's groundbreaking contributions to the field of computer science, as well as his efforts, in the face of personal tragedy, to promote cross-cultural dialogue and reconciliation."

Toronto University President, David Naylor, wrote to professor Pearl: "Your colleagues and many admirers at the University of Toronto, particularly in the Department of Computer Science and the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, acknowledge and value your exemplary career and contributions to society. They will enthusiastically applaud the award of our University highest honor." Professor Pearl will address the convocation ceremony at Toronto University on June 22, 2007, and will speak on "Science and Human Freedom".
